Seriously...Realtors, don't spend money on ads like this...

Real Estate Marketing Made Easy...A 30-Day Plan for Top Producer Profits Does your ad state that you are" the greatest," "work hard for your clients," "specialize in such-and-such properties"? Truly...all agents say something to that effect and honestly it's not all that interesting...or eye catching! Most people gloss over these type of ads since they are a dime a dozen. It's sad, because advertising ain't cheap, is it? So if you're going to do it, why not say something of value. For example, if you run an ad in your local paper or city magazine, tell people what's going on in the market and give them a reason to stop and read your ad! It doesn't have to be long and wordy (by all means, keep it brief), but a little section that gives a glimpse into something that local area residents would be interested in would be a key component. You could tell them what areas are selling, what price ranges, how to stage their homes for q

Is your home party plan business failing?

I've done a TON of work with the home party plan industry and here's what I've found in the past nine years of working with and for them: 1. They want to succeed, they just don't get the right tools to do everything they can with their business. Why? Because many well-meaning mentors still use old and out-dated methods that most people just are not going to do. For example: Talking to everyone you know about your business...really? Only the most out-going (and dare I say, irritating?) people might be able to accomplish this. Another gem: Circle of influence. Yes, it's a great start, but boy-oh-boy can it be limiting. You have to get out there to make yourself known and it usually goes way beyond your own social circle. 2. They don't have lots of cash for marketing. Most home sellers make about $10,000 a year (or much less or more). It's just an average figure and one that doesn't give lots of room for spending money on marketing. Even $

Small Business? Check Your Marketing Against This...

Great book! "Many great tips and tools for motivating employees and teams. Nice that it's a quick-book and I didn't have to read a 300 pages of fluff to get the information. Well written by an obvious expert." Marketing a business is and isn't much different than it used to be (how's that for commitment?) First: How it is the same: -You still have to get it out there and create trust -You still need to let people know what you're all about and how they can get it -You still have to spend money -sometimes- to get your business some exposure Here's how it's changed: -Getting it out there is more about connecting than advertising -Social media has changed the game -somewhat- -The internet has changed the game HUGE I visit lots of sites (and even brick and mortar businesses) that just don't seem to get it. They think plastering a Facebook logo on their site or commercial is all there is to it. Who cares? --Are you giving me

Kill your business by doing this...

If you're not gathering leads and names from an autoresponder on your site or blog, you're missing out BIG TIME! These days, people are so inundated with info and offers, they often need to get to know you and see your emails several times before they can trust you and want to do business with you. Auto responders are a great way to do this, yet many sites I visit still don't use them. Once a visitor clicks away, you've lost them, so why not get their info while they're there (and interested)? Here are a few tips for using auto responders with best results: 1) What's your bribe? The better your offer, the easier it is to get them to sign up. If they want what you're offering, you'll get them so make it good. 2) Don't hide your sign up form. Make it accessible and put it high on your page to increase sign ups. Also, make it attractive and eye-catching. It a key component of your site, so treat it that way. 3) Be careful what you ask for.

Real Estate Marketing Tip: Open Houses...Worth the Effort for Newbie Agent?

Working an Open House for Maximum Results By working the open house, you are usually looking to secure buyers and those interested in purchasing property. Don’t be shy about asking them some key questions: -When are they looking to buy? -Do they have a mortgage broker to work with? Have they been pre-approved? -What areas are they interested in? By asking these questions, you can often find out whether they are serious buyers or just lookie-loos. If they are serious, do they have an agent? If not, don’t just hand them your card. All agents do this and it’s often forgotten. Be sure to let them know about your site (point it out on your card) and what it can help them with. They may be brand new to the process and by telling them you’ve got lots of helpful info on your site, it will make you stand out from competitors (who just hand them their card.) Also, if you have events, like information classes set up, let them know. You may even wish to ... More Real Estate Marketing Made Ea

Real Estate Marketing Made Easy...A 30-Day Plan for Top Producer Profits

Real estate marketing? Isn't that dead these days? No way. As long as we are humans we will still want to buy and sell properties--maybe just not as much or as often! But buyers and sellers still need the services of professional agents and agents still need to find those buyers and sellers. Now, with so many agent drop-outs due to the rotten economy, there's still a spot for agents who can get the deal done. However, gone are the days when buyers were dropping out of the sky for agents to work with--now a little marketing muscle is a must. Real Estate Marketing Tip: Who cares?

Realtors, the first thing most of us wonder when we see your ad is "Who cares?" Real estate agents are a dime a dozen, right? Sorry to be blunt and harsh, but you're not alone. Most of us think the same thing when we see anyone's ad who just says "Hey, I'm great and sell XYZ." So what? The trick to really getting someone to notice you and think you are the ONE to use is how much information you can help me with. For example, if you pay big money to run an ad somewhere, put something in it besides just your photo and phone number/contact and tag line. Tell me something of use . I will read your ad and possible you name and face will stick in my head. You're paying the money anyway...why not actually put it to good use and make us like and trust you as the expert? Medical Marketing: Establish Your Practice Faster

Medical Practice Marketing: Docs, derms, dentists...if you offer anything other than hard-core health care (like aesthetic services, which are usually cash and not insurance paid), market these to your patients. They may not know you offer them! Don't just put around brochures and signcards in your office! I do get an emailer from my dermatologist each month telling me about new things and specials. I get one from a prescription company that tells me about new practices in health. I like that. I don't suggest that ezines or emails are the only way to connect. I just know they work. If you can give out good information, your patients will thank you. Unfortunately, so many of the practices are over-populated and understaffed so making a marketing effort is the last thing on the their minds. I'm not really directing this toward the big clinics who make you wait hours for your appointment--they've got issue to deal with beyond finding more patients! I'm talking

Salon Marketing: Are you connecting?

Salon Marketing: I go to a well-known salon. Regularly. However, I never receive emails or anything from them. I don't know if there's a promotion or special or even if they are still in business. In other words...I go to them, but they never come to me. If you're not connecting with your customers often and consistently, you're missing out on valuable referrals and repeat customers as well as up-selling products, etc. By offering something as simple as a monthly email, you're letting your customers know that you have something to say and care about them. Just keep in mind, if you do contact them, have something to say of value. Don't just promote yourself--remember, people want to know what's in it for them. Have a good article on the latest styles or colors, promote a stylist in the salon or new services, etc. Give good valuable information and you'll not only get better client retention, but likely some good referrals and new customers. Restaurant Marketing Tip: Have an Online Menu!

I live in Tucson, Arizona, but it doesn't much matter...wherever I travel in the U.S., I usually end up wanting to order carry-out from a decent restaurant or do some online research about local eateries. One thing I cannot for the life of me understand is WHY don't restaurants make it a point to not only have an online presence (it is 2011, after all), but also updated menus. So many don't (if you do, BRAVO). It's truthfully kind of pitiful and always makes me wonder how well managed the places are that don't. I've seen enough Gordon Ramsey restaurant makeovers to know what the kitchen and management might really be up to (scary!). If you are running a restaurant, bistro, cafe, coffee house, pie shop, gastropub, etc., etc....please have a good online presence (it doesn't have to fancy or complicated, just easy to navigate and give peace of mind and informantion). Also, post your menus (updated, please) so if I call to order the Crispy Oven Baked Chicken

Everything You Should Know Publishing Package for Wanna Be Top Selling Authors

I got the package and I'm making my way through the videos. My thoughts thus far: 1. Lots of info! I got the Platinum package and so far I'm impressed with the amount of info. 2. As usual, there's sales info for other packages, but so far I've gotten a good amount just from this without buying more (which I'm not apt to do.) 3. Seriously, Mike Koenigs...don't give advice on dressing right now. Your way-too-big blue shirt didn't make you look like a pro; it just made you look silly. If this is the strategy behind "dressing for the everyman" that you take, it seems really, really dumbed down. I think we can all handle you in a well-fitting shirt. (See video #2 for this.) 4. On a good note, Mike: You're a good speaker and easy to listen to. I like the message. Goes double for Arielle. Wish I could still hire Arielle Ford as publicist (could I even afford her?). She knows the biz. Unfortunately (see previous posting), the biz changed

The All Powerful PLATFORM for Non-Fiction Writers

Do you have a platform? If you don't know what this is, or don't have one, don't even think about writing your book. This is the advice from publishing big-wigs like Arielle Ford. Of course, this isn't new, but it's now the MUST HAVE marketing for nearly any non-fiction writer who truly desires to make any money with his/her book. As most books don't sell many copies, authors are to rely on back-end deals like speaking engagements and selling other programs to truly rake in the cash. As a writer, the problem exists: Most writers who truly write are not really going to want to get up and speak in front of crowds and hawk their wares (books), right? So how to overcome this? For my money, I'm guessing teleseminars and maybe video seminars could work. Also, developing programs that are pricer that you can upsell to readers who enjoy your topics. In other words, don't be complacent and think as an author you're just going to write books and make m

Amanda Hocking... She's my girl...

I read this not-so-recent post by Amanda Hocking on her blog and I thought it was not only well-said, but refreshingly honest and candid. I wish more authors were like this (the big names) so the rest of us could feel more included and realize it takes a boatload of work, but it can happen! Book Marketing: It isn't what you write, it's how you sell it.

It isn't what you write, it's how you sell it. Gosh, if you're a self-published author (or even a traditionally published one), you know the value of marketing and promotion. Gone are the days of putting up a book and having tons of traffic (was that ever the case?). Now you must push, push, push to get through all the clutter (sorry other authors) on amazon and online. I've come across a few good ways to steadily promote your books: 1. Join http://www.socialoomph.com/ and schedule tweets about your book regularly. Make them fun and witty and intriguing (not too salesy) 2. Get trailers made or make them yourself! These are great to post on Youtube, your site, in PR...everywhere! Keep thems short and sweet! 3. Contact local bookstores in your area. Get buyers names. Send them a full-color postcard of your book. Follow up or include a pitch for a story about you as a local author. Offer to send them a free copy or digital version. 4. Do an interview. Get

3 Tips to Sell More Books on Amazon

Boost your sales on amazon...without funky "bestseller" programs If you're an author, you've probably got at least one book listed on http://www.amazon.com/ . It is the premier place to sell your books (among other things) and as such, is highly competitive. Of course you already know all this, so to get your book seen and read (bought), you need to get it exposure. Just plopping it up on amazon ensures nothing...you have to promote it yourself. Here are a few tips I've found that have worked for me: 1. Tweet frequently about your book--People like fun, intriguing tweets vs. "Buy my new book!" Get them to click by giving a hint about the book or even posting reviews 2. Promote it in everything--I got postcards and business cards printed and plan to leave them strategically in book stores and others stores and posted on bulletin boards. Also, I've posted the book on my several sites and blogs. Put it everywhere! 3. Offer free sample downloads

Kiss and Spells Contemporary Romance Book

Kiss and Spells Contemporary Romance Book

Do you have a sales force to sell your book?

Do you have a dedicated sales force to help you sell your book. Probably not like you think, but you do. The idea came to me when my husband was getting his haircut the other day and he was chatting up my new book ( Kiss and Spells ). Of course, he thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, so after talking the lady next to him, who was reading on her Kindle said she'd buy it and she did! Right then and there! Well, of course, not everyone you talk to is on their Kindle or able to buy the book right then and there so how do you get your friends (and yourself) to market your book everywhere they go? Especially if you're not a social butterfly and don't want to hawk your wares verbally (kinda used-car salesmaney, right?). Then I thought, of course! Have some cards made up--either postcards or business sized--and give them out to your friends and family to hand out or leave places (women's bathrooms are good) or local coffee shops, leave with wait staff

Book Marketing Tip: Get a list

We all know the power of having a good, solid, responsive list, but how can you get one? Buying email address sure isn't the answer--these people don't know who you are and probably don't care. But getting people to sign up daily to your lists on your sites and blogs is where the true money is. But how to get found and entice them to sign up? There's so much free crap these days that most people just don't want their email box clogged up with "free" useless junk. Of course, you need to get found. Some of the best ways I've found are: 1. Regular press releases that are indexed for SEO ( http://www.seopressreleases.com/ is a good one and not too pricey). 2. Running small ads on top sites. I run a couple ads (and have for years) on top sites for my products and they bring in a good deal of traffic. 3. Blog and make sure you're links to sign up are all around and accessible Now...how to get them to actually fill in the form and confirm! 1.
"Wonderful!" "Nice summer read... Liked the description of the plot, so picked it up. It is a good, quick read. The story line is engaging and it is the kind of book one would like to try for a spot of fun. In fact, a good movie can come out of it too." "I read this on my daily commute to London. It was enjoyable and I often reached my destination with a heavy heart as I had to stop reading this. It is a great book and this kindle, well I could not put it down."

Book Trailer Tips

If you're a self-publisher (and even if you're not), you should be able to get or produce a nice book trailer. It should help bring your book alive without being too sales-oriented or pushy. Tell what you book is about and how to get it. When producing your trailer, keep in mind: -A well-designed cover is going to be your book's best friend for marketing. Use the cover at least twice in your trailer. -Use music that works with your book's theme. If you wrote a how-to on saving money, don't use disco or hard rock. Use something for the audience you're producing for. -If you don't know how to make a trailer, find someone who can or use a simple service like Animoto. -Don't have ads or announcements on your trailer. It should do nothing but promote and tell about your book. -Keep it short--under a couple of minutes. Unless you're really imparting a lot of information, it shouldn't take long to watch. -Use photos whereever possible. Video is a

Book Marketing Tip: Don't skimp on the cover!

We all know the old adage, Don't Judge a Book by it's Cover . Is it true? You bet your sweet bippy it is (what is a bippy?) I've seen so many covers of self-pubbed books by otherwise very talented authors, yet the cover is just plain boring and dull. Either it's got bad font, type, no pics, boring color, etc.,... I don't get it. Why spend the time writing and publishing the book just to lose sales with a cover that doesn't pop? Does cover design cost a lot? Heck no! If you have a simple photo or design program (I use Illustrator and Photoshop, but you can do it with less), then you can make yourself some amazing...AMAZING covers! My best tips: Use a picture -- you can get inexpensive photos to use at www.Dreamstime.com (great site!) Take time to look at covers in your genre-- which are good and bad and follow the good ones (don't copy, just emulate) Do a few different renditions, leave them and come back later. Book Selling: Paypal or Credit Cards or Amazon?

I've been marketing and selling my books on my sites for years now, all without the almighty amazon. Not because I don't like them--I LOVE amazon, but because I wanted to price and sell and promote it and make more profits (hey, I'm honest!). Over the years I've sold thousands of copies worldwide and I can honestly say that offering the ability to purchase with a well-known credit card processor has helped... a lot! When I started out, I offered my books on ebay, so of course I took Paypal. This worked for awhile, but I realized I needed to go even more "professional" so I signed up with a little-known company (at the time), 2co.com. They were easy and it was cheap to get a merchant "account" and put it on my site. Since doing that, I still accept Paypal and still get orders with it, but nowhere near the credit card orders I get. I think offering this choice has been a real boon to my sales. If you're not with a credit card company and rely o

Marketing Your Book Tip: Get reviews and testimonials

Book Marketing 101: If you're putting out a book, and you're a no-name author (no offense; I'm a no-namer, too!), you MUST do all your can to boost your book's credibility for more sales. This includes 1.) Getting a great cover, 2.) Doing a trailer or video, 3.) Getting reviews Thinking you'll pop it up on amazon and whizz to the top is surely not your best bet. You have to PUSH it up there! By making sure it's eye-catching, has visibility (videos) and has reviews that sell it, will help it boost in sales and exposure. For some budget ideas for marketing and getting your book a video review, visit http://www.getyourspotlight.com Covers can be designed for just $99 at http://www.moehr-associates.com (yep, it's me) and you can put out a press release a week for good SEO coverage at www.seopressreleases.com .
